Winter Christmas Nail Art | 2019 Design #4

Christmas Snowflake Nail Art

I was wanting to get away from the traditional reds and greens for this design after creating the very red candy cane design in the previous week. So I decided to pick the base colour with this guideline in mind. I wasn’t sure what design I would do just and was a little stuck so I painted on the base and went from there. This resulted in a Winter Christmas Nail Art Design.

Winter Christmas Nail Art – The Base

You might have seen this combination before. It works so well and I absolutely love the result. The beautiful and versitile base colour allows it to be used for many different designs.

I started with a blue base called Rich Girls and Po Boys by OPI. I went with a light blue as I was using it to enhance the top colour. The next polish that I applied has low opacity which is why I added the base colour so that I didn’t have to sit there applying four coats of the ILNP polish.

After 1 coat of Rich Girls and Po Boys, I added 2 coats ILNP – Deep End. This jelly style blue polish will pick up purple tones in the right light and the small holo glitter add such a pretty yet subtle sparkle which is perfect for this design.

Nail Stamping

As soon as the first coat of Deep End was applied I knew that I wanted to add snowflakes. Maniology plate M039 is perfect for this with two different sized snowflake patterns (use my code THENAILCHRONICLE for 10% off Maniology). For the stamping polish, I used OPI, Alpine snow. This polish has become very thick and so while I can’t use this for a base colour anymore it works perfectly for stamping. So if you have any thickened polishes it might be an idea to test and see if you can use them as a stamping polish.

Wanting to keep the pattern different I added the smaller snowflake to my index and pinky fingers. For the others, I added the larger snowflakes ensuring that there was space in between the images so that the blue polish could shine through.

Overall

I think this is my favourite Christmas design this year. I loved the shiny blue and the contrast from the white polish.

Take a look at my other designs from this year:
