Just as I started to write this post, the title caught the attention of my partner who was wondering if I had gone to a Korean restaurant without him. Which I haven’t, lol. Rather both himself and two friends who I have known for most of my life joined me for this awesome night-time adventure around Melbourne that included a stop at By Korea. I was really looking forward to this part of the trip as it has been over four years since we had seen each other.
A great night out starts with dessert!
We headed towards South Bank in search of a bite to eat. Most places seemed quite pricey for our budget. However, amongst our searching, we came across an amazing looking ice-cream shop. We thought for a few moments and decided that we would be unlikely to return so out night started with ice-cream. This was despite it being freezing cold (I had both a jacket and jumper on)!
We continue walking around and catching up on lost time. We decided to try china town. Unfortunately, the places were either really full or just not what we were after. My friend then remembered a little Korean place, so we headed over to the general area before opening google maps to find the alley where the restaurant was located.
By Korea Chinatown
We found By Korea down a dark alley!! It’s the sort of place that you would either have to be told about or be lucky enough to find it on google maps. The ratings looked really good so we gave it a go.
We ordered a variety of dishes and plus a bottle of soju to share. We also got a milk drink each! The dishes came out very quickly. Each one was delicious!! I was glad to try a variety of food accompanied by great service! I have saved this place so that when I return to Melbourne I can head back here!
Following dinner, we decided to continue the fun and head to Storyville in search of a teacup cocktail that we could share. This drink sounded amazing and so off we went. I loved the entry to Storyville, it has a magical feel as soon as you approach it. Sadly they no longer made the drink and there wasn’t too much else that we were interested in trying. So instead we headed towards a Taiwanese dessert bar. We purchase bubble tea and a Taiwanese desert before heading back to our friend’s place.
The view from my friend’s apartment rooftop was incredible and the perfect end to an amazing night.

It was a great place! I would have never found it if my friend didn’t know about it
Being Korean, this definitely hit home! Of course I love all Korean food (well most of it).
I would love to travel to Korea one day and just go on a food adventure!
We had Korean food before and love it. I love spicy food and the spice they use for Korean food is delicious.
I love the flavours!
Looks so good. I’ve never tried Korean food but I’m thinking I should!
Its such a delicious food!! One of my favorites is bibimbap! Which rice with a range of toppings like meat, mushroom, beansprouts and sauce. The toppings vary each time depending on where you go 🙂
Dessert first–YESS!!! I am totally for that and by the looks of everything else you pictured, I don’t know how you all had any room left! The food looked amazing.
haha the walking certainly helped with creating some extra room!
