Spring Nail Art – A touch of pink

Spring Nail Art

Early one Saturday morning I receive a message from one of my friends asking if I wanted to come to polo with her as her friend had bailed on her. As I had nothing planned for the day I said yes! So as I started to get ready I realised that my nails were badly chipped and needed a quick fix. Rather than doing any nail art, I selected a nice green as I knew that I wanted to create some spring nail art. I also chose green so that it would match my fascinator, which I didn’t end up wearing lol.

A touch of pink

I started out with Loreal Paris – ‘Green lol’ for the base. I’m not keen on the name of this polish but l love the colour. It’s not too bright and a amazing colour for spring.

Moving onto the nail art I used two different techniques stamping and reverse stamping. Firstly I started by stamping plain black leaves on a few of my nails. I could have used the reverse stamping technique on all of my nails but its a technique that I’m still learning so it takes me quite a while. The other benefit of doing using regular stamping is that the design is broken up a little.

I began the reverse stamping by placing the flower design onto my stamping mat (you can grab one here). This took me a few goes as the stamper seemed to have trouble picking up the full pattern but eventually, I was able to stamp on at least 4 good ideas onto my mat.

I filled in the flower pattern using a nail dotting tool. This technique is new to me that I saw on YouTube a few weeks ago and it works really well.

Starting with filling in the leaves I used a darker green then what I had on my nails. Moving onto the flower,s I used a Nails Inc pink glitter that has such dense glitter that makes it perfect for reverse stamping, although it’s a pain to take off! I did have a little bit of regret, not using my peel off base coat for this design.

After waiting for the design to start to dry I applied the clear top coat over the design. I then waited for it to be dry enough for it to come off the mat cleanly. Learning to judge this is quite hard and does take some practice as the drying time for polishes can vary so much.

Applying the design to my nail required a little trimming as they were hugely bigger than my nail. But other than that I was really happy with how they turned out. The design was clean and there was minimal smudging.

Overall

Spring Nail Art

I’m pretty happy with how these turned out. I think they are my most consistent reverse stamping designs and a great sign that I’m finally starting to get the hang of this technique. I hope you liked my spring nail art design.
