Day 4 in Melbourne – Exploring and Brighton Beach

Brighton Beach - Melbourne

During our last day in Melbourne, we certainly tried to cram as much as we could into this day.

We checked out and kept our bags back at the hotel to be stored so that we didn’t have to carry them around all over Melbourne. Most hotels will allow you to do this so it’s definitely worth asking. We headed towards St Kilda to meet my friends for breakfast. More of that will be up on the next post. After breakfast, we headed towards the famous cake strip in St Kilda. We all purchased something each but was so full from breaky that we decided to take them back with us. My friends needed to head back to the city however they suggested that we check out Brighton Beach.

We jumped on the tram for a short while and said our goodbyes. We accidentally started walking the wrong way to the bus stop but once we worked this out we were able to make it. Lucky the bus was running late. Although I wasn’t too happy for the reason as the bus driver had decided to take a break and do some food shopping at the local wollies! I couldn’t believe it.

So finally we were on our way towards the beach. The beach is lined with small painted beach houses, each with there own unique mural. The paintings were beautiful and had such a bright happy theme.

Just before we started exploring the beach house I had to take advantage of the morning sun that was creating such strong shadows.

The only downside to the beach was that it was so windy that we weren’t able to eat our pastries.

We headed back to the city to relax before our flight eating the pastries on the trip back into the city.

Headed Home

With a storm coming in, we decided to head to the airport early to ensure that we wouldn’t be stuck in traffic. On our way, there was a stand giving out full blocks of cheese and crackers!! I couldn’t believe it and decided to take the risk of popping it in my suitcase, hoping that it would survive the trip.

We arrived at the airport and then headed home!

There is only one more post left in my Melbourne Series!!

Check out the entire Melbourne series here.

PS: the cheese survived the trip.
