This post has been a long time coming! Its the last post for my Melbourne 2018 series and was the last restaurant I went to before flying back to Sydney. Cowderoy’s Dairy cafe name really intrigued me. I imagined an old style milk bar with milkshakes and homemade burgers.
Cowderory’s Dairy – St Kilda
We arrived at the closest tram stop hoping that we had chosen the right stop. My friends were joining the tram further up the road and were going to let us know when they arrived at our stop so that we knew to jump on. Whilst waiting we saw Malcolm Turnbull jump of the train with a small entourage. It’s certainly something that we weren’t expecting to see. Shortly after my friends arrived and we jumped on the tram to St Kilda. The tram stop was pretty close to Cowderoyr’s Dairy, with only a 5-minute walk required to finish our journey.
As we walked in we were greeted with a really cute local cafe that looked just as I had imagined in my head complete with the lolly jars! We sat down and were given menus. The food was slightly different to what I had imagined. It was the typical cafe food that I was expecting but with Melbourne’s hipster features added in!
I decided to order my very first tumeric latte to see what all the fuss was about. I know of the health benefits but have been curious how it would taste. Surprisingly it wasn’t too bitter and had a really nice flavour. Although I see why people add honey to the drink.
My partner also ordered a chai which after a few disappointing chai teas he was very glad to have an amazing tasting one.
For breakfast, I ordered a Kimchi Benedict that was amazing! I wasn’t sure how the meat and benedict sauce would mix but it worked really well. I was really glad I choose this option!
Post Breakfast
After breakfast, we headed over to St Kilda’s famous cake strip on Acland Street. This place is dangerous! There were so many delicious cakes, it was soo hard to choose!
After choosing our cakes and the catchup was over so it was suggested that we head over to Brighton Beach (click to read more)
Sadly the trip was over before we knew it. I think Melbourne was giving us a nudge to go home with the incoming rain.
After a relatively smooth flight given the weather we headed back into reality but not before we were greeted with this:
Did anyone lose a thong? lol
