This Mario Kart Nail Art was probably one of the more complex designs that I have done. There was a lot I learnt which I really want to share with you! I loved how they turned out and these are one of my favourite nails for 2018!
Mario Kart Nail Art
I began with a coat of blue using Ocean Villa by Face of Australia. This brand is normally known for its makeup but it makes really great nail polish as well! A great surprise for a discount nail polish.
I then moved onto the reverse stamping. For the wall outline, I used hehe plate 025 (Harry Potter). I overlayed the wall with Sinful Colours, Nirvana. One thing I wish that I did differently was to just paint brown on my nail and then stamp the wall directory on. Still, it was a chance to practice my reverse stamping.
Whilst waiting for it to dry I moved on to the characters using plate LE105 by the It Girl. I was pretty excited to use this plate as I had stayed up to 1 am to make sure that I could place my order given that a limited number were released. I stamped a few of each character on the mat ensuring that I created a few extra (get your own mat here – nb: this is an affiliate link, it won’t cost you any extra but will give me a small percentage of the sale).
After filling in each character and waiting for everything to dry, using the tweezers I picked up each image a slowly applying it to my nail. For the ones that were slightly too big, I used scissors to trim down the image before using nail polish remover for the remaining edges.
Having applied all the images I waiting a while before adding the top coat.
Overall
I was really pleased how these turned out! The colouring for the characters is neat and there was no smudging.
Let me know in the comments what do you think? Which character should I try next?
This is so cool!!! I love Bowser, he’s so detailed and colourful. I’ve never tried art to this extent on my nails, or stamping. I’m very jealous of your skill – these are just so cute!
