Australia Day Nail Art 2019

So all the way back in early 2018 I saw some awesome maniology stamping plates with cute Aussie animals. I wanted to get them for Australia Day 2018 however they wouldn’t be able to arrive in time. So I decided not to get them. Then in December 2018 I was just ‘window shopping’ and discovered that the plates were still available so it went straight into my cart! I was so excited when it arrived and couldn’t wait to use it to create my Australia Day Nail Art.

Starting with Sally Hansen – 530, Pardon my Garden, I began to create this nature-themed design. I could have almost got away with a single coat but applied a second coat to ensure the design would last. Pardon my Garden is a beautiful green that is perfect for spring and summer. I’m not sure why I don’t use it more often!

Whilst waiting for the base colour to dry I began to stamp a few of each image onto my stamping mat. I didn’t have much luck getting the image outline on the mat for this design but eventually was able to stamp on enough outlines.

Using 3 key colours to fill in the animals certainly helped to speed up the colouring however it still took quite a while! I also created a few extra designs, which was lucky as I did destroy one when I lifted it up from the mat.

Having finished filling in the colour I applied a top coat and while waiting for this to dry I added my second coat of green.

Using tweezers to carefully lift each image I took my time to get the placement right. By waiting for each image to dry for a little longer than normal I was able to move the image around a lot more. However, by allowing the images to dry for longer, it can make it harder to apply to the nail. The most challenging part of placement for this design was trying to get the placement such that as much of the detail as possible would be visible on the nail.

Overall

I am really starting to get the hang on reverse stamping and if it didn’t take so long I would certainly do it more often. I think I might try to pre-create some images during the week to save time! Keep posted to see how I go with this.
