I was intrigued by the Smelly Cheesecake Cafe’s name. Walking past the cafe interior was creative without being overly pretentious. The backend area is surrounded by storage container doors with the back wall having a rustic feel. It was surprising that the combination works so well. The cafe’s design created a rustic, relaxed setting.
The Food
Egg in croissant really captured my interest and I couldn’t go past ordering this dish. I was a little concerned that the flavours would become too strong, however, with a side of relish, it wasn’t the case. The perfectly scrambled egg and lightly toasted croissant paired well together. The relish cut through the sweetness of the two main flavours to ensure that it wasn’t overwhelming.
Also on the menu was a classic bacon and egg roll that my partner ordered without the egg. So essentially it was a bacon roll. My partner also added a hashbrown. The bacon was perfectly cooked and the sauce was perfect for the roll. The hashbrown was crisp and crunchy. My partner really enjoyed the dish.
The Coffee and Drinks
I ordered the taro milkshake. This had a nice sweet taro flavour with a smooth finish. The drink was definitely more on the milkshake side of things with it being very smooth. I would definitely order this drink again.
My partner ordered a coffee, which was smooth, not burnt and had a lovely flavour. I pinched a small sip and can attest that the coffee was good. So much so that since my visit I have returned to get another.

The Smelly Cheesecake Cafe isn’t fancy but it has good, hearty food. I’m looking forward to trying out their other dishes. The service was friendly. Customers place their order at the counter. I loved that you have the option of your drinks coming out either straight away or with your food. This means no cold coffees by the time your food arrives.
I will be definitely returning to the Smelly Cheesecake Cafe!
