This adventure happened a little by accident. My friends had spontaneously visited Sydney for a footy game (AFL) and so we pretty much spent most of the weekend together. This visit also included checking out the Chinese Garden of Friendship in the Sydney CBD which you can read about here. We tried so many new places completely on a whim whilst exploring Sydney.
Exploring Sydney – Night 1
We headed into the city at about 5ish, running a little later than planned. My friends had headed back to their accommodation for a short nap, so we decided to meet them at a bar nearby called The Scary Canary that turned out to be a backpackers bar. It was a neat spot. When we arrived it was still happy hour but not for much longer so we quickly grabbed our drinks and chilled at a table near the window. My friend also had a voucher for a free Jar. It didn’t exactly say what was in the jar but she decided to give it a go anyway. Out came a bright blue drink. I can’t remember what was in it but it tasted nice. This might sound weird but it tasted like blue. If you have had blue items before I’m hoping you might know what I mean.
Having had a few drinks we definitely needed food so we headed to one of our favourite ramen places Ichi-ban Boshi. It may not be Sydney’s best ramen but think it’s a delicious and great value.
Of course, we also had to get some Sake to go with our meal! We picked one purely based on it being the cheapest and lucky for us it worked out pretty well!
After finishing our meal we decided to seek out some ice-cream. We headed towards Max Joy [review] in Haymarket. I visited here on my birthday and the ice-cream was amazing. I grabbed the Yakult flavour which I wasn’t brave enough to try last time and regretted not grabbing after seeing my friends enjoy it so much. This flavour tasted exactly as you would imagine. It worked so well in the ice-cream. If you like the taste of Yakult I really recommend giving it a go. I also grabbed a second flavour which was just as good. All of the ice-cream is homemade. It’s definitely a place to check out.
To be continued….
This was just day 1! It was such a fun weekend but there is more to come. Stay tuned for day 2 next week.
