Sailor Moon Nail Art Design | Easy to follow design

Salior Moon Nail Art

This is my second version of a Sailor Moon nail art design. The very first Sailor Moon design was one of the first designs I posted on this blog! It also remains to be one of my favourites designs! It’s nice to be returning to this stamping plate as I have been wanting to use it again.

OPI – Let Love Sparkle

For the base of my Sailor Moon design, I used OPI Let Love Sparkle. Let Love Sparkle is part of the Hello Kitty Collection. This polish looks very different from what is in the bottle. In the bottle, the polish looks like a sparkly light metallic blue. On my nails, the polished looked more silver than blue. It took four coats of the polish to get it close to a blue shade. The polish was opaque at 3 coats but I applied the fourth coat in the hope that it would look bluer. In some lighting the shade looked blue but generally, the shade appeared to be silver. The colour isn’t uniform in the bottle and I can see darker shades in the polish, which is ok as when the polish is applied the colour is even. There is also glitter throughout the polish. I realised this after applying it to my nail and really regretted not using a peel-off base coat. It took a while to remove the polish, where I used the soaking technique.

Despite these criticisms, I loved how the shade turned out, I was just expecting it to be more blue. It’s really pretty and perfect for winter designs.

Using stamping plates hehe 013 and 014, I applied a mix of reverse stamping and regular stamping. For the reverse stamping, I added my images to my stamping mat. Using OPI – Many Celebrations to go, I filled in each image and toped the completed image with a clear coat of polish. Many Celebrations is a beautiful gold polish that added a nice contrast against the purple outline and blue/silver base.

While waiting for the decals to dry I stamped my other images onto my nails using a purple polish. This ensured that I didn’t repeat my classic mistake of lifting the decals too early. Once each decal had dried I then applied them to my remaining nails.

Overall

Despite the disappointment in the base shade not appearing as blue as I would like I’m really happy with how this turned out. I especially loved the colour contrast between the silver, blue and gold.

Let me know in the comments, would you use this colour combo?
