Still recovering from a cycling accident last weekend I wanted to keep my nail art design simple. Either using some stickers or a nice topper. So I picked out my favourite green topper to create these simple St Patrick’s Day nails. This follows my previous post featuring my first St Patrick’s Day nail art for 2020.

Simple St Patrick’s Day Nails – Base Colour
Before applying the topper, I needed to select the base colour. I was torn between black or green. I originally thought the green would work best for the St Patrick’s Day theme. However, the black would great with the green topper. I tested each colour on my stamping mat (you can get your very own stamping mat here).
In the end, I decided to go with the BMC green polish, Tree of Life (BMC was rebranded to Maniology – for 10% off use code THENAILCHRONICLE). This polish is opaque in one coat and given that I was going to apply a few coats of the topper I decided to just apply a single coat.
Topper
I started this design by selecting the topper ILNP – Imagine That. This topper features a green iridescent glitter that shimmers beautifully in the light. I knew that I wanted to select something that had a bit of sparkle in it. I didn’t have any green glitter polishes in the shade that I had in mind so this topper was the next best thing.
To achieve enough coverage with the iridescent pieces I applied two coats of the topper. The bonus of using the topper is that a separate base coat isn’t required. Although if you’re using a topper with solid glitter pieces I would still apply a clear topcoat so that you end up with a smooth finish.
Overall
I started with the idea to create simple St Patrick’s Day and ended up with a beautiful result that was created in no time. I think I will be truly pinch-proof for Tuesday!
Let me know in the comments if you will be celebrating St Patrick’s Day.
