OPI Isn’t She Iconic Swatch | Hello Kitty Collection

OPI Swatch and nail stamping - isnt she iconic

Going through the OPI Hello Kitty mini collection I realised that I hadn’t tried one of the polishes. So I decided that I should do an OPI Isn’t She Iconic Swatch. For this swatch, I’ve changed things up a little as I wasn’t sure how this colour would go without having a base colour underneath. It will be interesting to see especially after my experience of Let Love Sparkle that took 4 coats to become opaque. Hopefully, this one works out better.

OPI Isn’t She Iconic Swatch

As mentioned in the intro this swatch is starting a little differently. I wanted to see how it would look with and without a base colour. From experience, silver shades go really well on top of dark shades such as black or dark blue so I select one of each to apply as a base colour. I also planned to apply OPI Isn’t she Iconic on its own, just in case it was opaque enough.

For the black polish (right nail), I chose OPI Lady in black. It’s not my favourite black polish but it would work for this swatch. For the dark blue (centre nail), I selected one from the Hello Kitty Collection, OPI My Favorite Gal Pal. Due to my first coat of these polishes being a bit thin I added a second thin coat so that they were fully opaque.

After the base colours had dried I applied a coat of OPI Isn’t She Iconic on the two colour and a third nail. To my surprise, the polish was very opaque and worked really well on the blank nail and nails with the base colours. It was far more opaque than I was expecting. When the polished dried it had a really smooth finish, which I also wasn’t expecting as it seemed a bit rough when I applied the polish.

So I decided to apply the colour to all of my nails without any base. I ended up applying 3 coats to achieve full coverage and get a nice sparkly shine.

After applying the Isn’t she Iconic, I wanted to add some nail art so using Maniology plate M090 I add some patterned nail stamping, doing a different design on each hand (use code THENAILCHRONICLE for 10% off maniology). It’s not my usual method to have my hands completely different but seeing as I wasn’t going anywhere (thanks Covid) I thought why not have a little fun!

Overall

The OPI Isn’t She Iconic Swatch really surprised me. I’m impressed with how opaque this polish is and the very smooth finish. It feels like I have a topcoat on even though I hadn’t applied one yet.

If you’re after a silver polish, I would highly recommend checking this polish out.
