Working from home does have some advantages. For example, I get to be a little wilder with my nail art colour choices. Generally, I try to keep my colour choices relatively work appropriate, so I wouldn’t typically wear a vastly different colour on each nail. This design started with @nails_by_tamy creating a random generator collaboration. Essentially she would spin a random generator to determine the theme for our nail art. After being assigned a theme I decided to create Guitar Nail Art.

The Bases (yes that is plural)
I was assigned the category of Musical Instrument. This was going to be a little challenging as I didn’t have any suitable plates, so I was feeling a little nervous. However, as I went through my plate collect I got lucky after finding a plate with a guitar.
After selecting the plate I felt that a bright and colourful base would work well for this design, so I choose to apply a different colour to each nail.
The colours I used were:
- Blue: Essie – I’m Addicted
- Orange: Colour Show – Coral Craze
- Purple: Nails Inc – Devonshire Row
- Pink: Nails Inc – St James Park
- Green: Nails Inc – Queen Victoria Street
I applied two coats of each colour except for the blue. The blue was a little sheer and needed a third coat to become opaque.
Guitar Nail Art | Stamping
Using plate BM-719 by Bundle Monster (aka Maniology) I took two different approaches (PS you can get 10% off at Maniology with code THENAILCHRONICLE). I initially thought to also use different colours for the stamping but I wasn’t sure if it would work. Seeing as I’m stuck at home I decided that one hand would have coloured stamping and the other hand would have black stamping. I kept to the basic stamping method applying the images directly to my nail. For the black stamping, I used Konad stamping polish.
For the coloured stamping I selected:
- Orange: MDU – Geranium
- Green: MDU – Lemon Tree
- Pink: MDU – Tulip
- Purple: Born Pretty
- Dark Blue: Konad
Comparing the coloured nails to the black nails. The black stamping looks a lot better. Some of the coloured images were washed out by the base colour despite my efforts to use contrasting colours. The best colour combinations were pink and purple. If the Konad Dark Blue was more opaque, I think it would have worked ok on the green. However, the orange stamping polish was too close to the bright pink base.
I’m glad that at least one of my hands worked out.

Summary
This was such a fun collab to be a part of and the group was so lovely. After a few drama-filled collabs, this reminded me why I loved being a part of them.
