I’m not sure what I was thinking when I selected Maniology plate BM-XL214. I can only guess that I thought it would be a lot of fun! Which it turned out it was a fun plate to use. I enjoyed using as many colours as I could to create a pastel Unicorn Nail Art design. Read on to learn how I created my design so that you can get some Unicorn nail art ideas and inspiration to create your very own unicorn nail art at home!!

Unicorn Blood
For the base colour of this unicorn nail art, I wanted something that would allow the unicorn decals to really pop! Especially as I was going to be using pastel colours. I selected OPI, Kyoto Pearl which as the name suggests is a pearly white with just a hint on shine.
The colour reminded me a little of the unicorn blood from Harry Potter, which was a sort of milky, pearl white with a bright shine to it.
The polish was quite opaque so I only applied two coats. If I wasn’t applying any nail art I would have likely done a third coat.
Unicorn Nail Art Ideas
To create the unicorn decals I used Maniology plate BM-XL214 which is filled with unicorns and relate cute images. It’s a versitile plate that can be easily used for both stamping and reverse stamping. I can see some uses where I might not even use the unicorn images. I’m starting to see why I grabbed it!
After stamping the images onto my stamping mat, I added the following colours trying to balance them equally as I wanted the design to be as colourful as possible.
These are the colours that I used:
- Blue – OPI – Dreams need clarif-fication
- Green – OPI – Gelato on my mind
- Pink – OPI – Tickle my France-y
- White – OPI – Funny Bunny
- Yellow – Julisa – Queen Bee
To finish the design off I applied Maniology Smudge Free Top Coat. This was my first time using this top coat and it was great! There were no smudged images and it had a beautiful smooth and shiny finish (now I feel like I’m in hair commercial lol).
Typically I would use OPI start to finish which works just as well. But if you’re having trouble with your stamping images smudging I recommend giving the Maniology Smudge Free Top Coat a try. You can use my code THENAILCHRONICLE for 10% off if you do want to give it a go.
Overall
This was a really fun design to create! When the plate arrived I was really confused why I purposed but as I began to use the plate I could see all the possibilities and am really glad I got it. The unicorns are a little different from my usual style but it was nice to change it up.
Let me know in the comments what design would you do if you purchased this plate?
