Christmas Nail Art Designs – Reverse Stamping

Christmas Coco - Christmas Nail Art Designs

This last Christmas Nail Art design for 2020 incorporates two things that I promised I would do for my final design. The first is a non-traditional Christmas colour. I really enjoyed using purple in my previous post and wanted to continue that. The second is reverse stamping which while writing last week’s post I realised I haven’t done any reverse stamping for this years Christmas Nail Art Designs.

The Base – Christmas Nail Art Designs

The base is where I’m using a non-traditional Christmas colour. I selected Guerlain, black perfecto a black polish with an ever so slight shimmer throughout. My full review of Black Perfecto here.

To add to the Christmas vibes I added one coat of ILNP, the Magician. This polish topper shifts from red and green making it perfect for a Christmas design. So I don’t know if this can be still called a non-traditional Christmas colour anymore but it looks pretty so I don’t mind either way.

Reverse Stamping

Given that the base is such a dark shade, I knew that I would need a light stamping colour like silver or white. So I decided to go with a silver polish by Konad with Maniology plate M039 (use code THENAILCHRONICLE for 10% off Maniology).

I stamped a bunch of different small images on my stamping mat. Trying to make sure that they were on the black sections of my mat so that I could clearly see the silver.

For the reverse stamping using my trusty dotting tools, I began to fill in the colours using the following polishes by OPI

  • Green – Gelato on my mind
  • Blue – Check out the old Greysirs
  • White 1 – Alpine snow
  • White 2 – Chiffon on my mind

When I was happy with the result I added a clear coat and waited for this to dry. Take care if the polish is a little thick as this can take longer. I recommend slowly lifting each one in case it’s not quite dry yet. I have had the odd case where all but one is dry and I end up damaging it because I lifted it up too quickly.

After adding each to my nail I added a clear topcoat.
