Colour by TBN Swatch and Review | Nail Polish

Three swatches showing the layers building up Colour by TBN

A few weeks back a friend let me know that Daiso had changed up there nail polish brand to Colour by TBN. So, of course, I had to try this out!! Daiso is known for having quality items at great prices and the last nail polish brand that they stocked was great so I was hoping that this would also be the case. I poped on my mask and headed out in search of this magical cheap polish. They had heaps of colours in stock. I only intended to grab one polish to try as I’m running low on space and this was before I reorganised my nail polish. However, after seeing the polishes I couldn’t resist getting two polishes.

Who is Colour TBN?

So before I get into the review I thought I should take a look at Colour by TBN as I’ve never heard of them before. After a quick look at there site, I can see that they are a cruelty-free Australian Company that provide a range of beauty products including lipstick, nail polish and eye shadow. The main aim is affordable cosmetics that are cruelty-free.

I couldn’t find much more about the company or their history.

As I mentioned in the intro I grabbed two different colours, Mighty Mint and Dan-cing in the Forest.

Mighty Mint is a light green pastel polish that matches the name perfectly! The colour is like mint ice-cream. I loved that it was the same on my nails as it was in the bottles. The polish went on really smooth and is really opaque but because I kept the coats thin, it did need three layers.

Dan-cing in the Forest is a metallic green with undertones of silver throughout. This was a little streaky on the first coat as is the case with many metallic polishes. After the second coat, it looked great! As the first coat, it was really opaque.

Both polishes were only $3 each which is super cheap! And for the quality that’s a great value. The polish barely chipped and lasted for the full week.

And now for the nail art

Now for the real reason for getting two polishes, I had some nail art ideas in mind for the two colours.

My initial idea was to create an accent nail with Dan-cing in the Forest and paint the rest of the nails green. Once I completed that it looked cool but I wanted to add a little more to the nail design.

So I tested out the polishes to see if they would stamp as they were quite opaque in my swatch and the formula isn’t too thin. The test was successful for both! I’m really happy that I can stamp with these beautiful colours.

Using Maniology plate BM-S305 and Dan-cing in the Forest I added some images to the mint green nails, leaving the accent nail plain. I’m glad I added the stamping as it really enhanced the nail art design.

Overall – 4.8 out of 5

I loved how this design turned out. It was bright and such a pretty colour. The polishes are great and I’m tempted to get some more especially if I can stamp with them.

I highly recommend giving them a go!
