Matte Metallic Blue Nails | Nail Art Tutorial

Blue metallic polish with matte

This week I wanted to do a simple design that wouldn’t take too long. However, I was also feeling like doing something different so I decided to do an experiment to see what would happen if put a matte topcoat over a metallic polish. So I set out to create Matte Metallic Blue Nails.

Matte Metalic Blue Nails

For this design, I started out with China Glaze polish, Adore a beautiful metallic blue! The polish is pretty opaque so I only applied two coats. I love metallic polishes as they look so pretty just as they are.

Once the two coats had dried I added two coats of OPI Matte Top Coat. Normally 1 would do, but my Matte top coat is starting to get a bit thick and so it was a little hard to get out of the bottle.

The transformation was amazing. It created a completely different look for the polish.

My only issue with matte polish is that after about 3 days it has a tendency to start cracking. To extend your design, either add some additional layers of topcoat.

For this week’s YouTube video, I decided to return to the Topic Tuesday series. Pop over and get to know me. Let me know in the YouTube comments what your answers would be.

Overall

I loved the effect that the matte had on the metallic polish! It still had some of the metallic effects without the shine. It is such a quick design that is so easy to do.

If your wanting to change up your polish without having to buy heaps of new colours or you want to create an easy design then I highly recommend adding a matte polish to your nail polish collection. It’s not something that I use all the time but I love pulling it out every so often.

I hope you found this design idea for Matte Metallic Blue Nails helpful.
