This is actually my second attempt at this design. I tried this late last year and while it sort of worked it wasn’t the best result. So after all the Christmas designs, I decided to pick this plate up and give layered stamping a second go. I hope this Fruit Nail Art sheds some light on using Layered Nail Stamping Plates.

The Base
Given that this was going to be a fruit design I decided to go with a light green along the lines of freshness and gardening. So I selected a polish by Colour by TBN called mighty mint. Check out my swatch for my full thoughts on this polish.
Layered Nail Stamping Plates
For the layered stamping, I used Maniology plate M028 that features a selection of small fruit and two full-size images (Get 10% off Maniology with my code THENAILCHRONICLE).
I was worried that the lemons would be too hard to see and so I decided to skip them. However, I attempted most other images.
For this plate, you start out with the rightmost section moving across to the left. It was a lot of fun choosing colours. This time I decided to stick to normal fruit colours. On my first attempted I went with some alternative colours like purple and blue.
The smaller images with two levels of layers were a lot easier to work with. So if you’re just starting out I would suggest keeping things simple. I’d also recommend practising as it takes a bit of skill to line up each image. One or two didn’t quite line up but as they still looked like fruit I decided to not redo them. There was one image that looked awful so I removed it and added a new one in its place.
The key for layered stamping to have the best effect is lining up each image as best you can.
Overall
This was a great plate to used. It was a little hard to clean with the intricate details but a really fun plate to use. The technique itself was a little challenging but by the end, I felt I was starting to get the hang of it!
Let me know in the comments if you have tried layered stamping before?
