Pastel Easter Nails | Ombre Design 2021

Ombre Pastel

After creating my Chocolate Nail Art I was ready to jump back in with some Pastel Easter Nails for my second design. Yet I wasn’t sure exactly what to create. I would need to get creative for this design as I ordered my Easter themed stamping plate way too late to arrive on time.

Pastel Easter Nails

I’ve done a few Pastel Easter Nails in the past and I didn’t want to repeat a design that I had already done. So after a little thinking, I changed things up a little and made the pastel base Ombre! If you have been a long time reader you would know Ombre is one of my favourite nail art techniques. Once you get the hang of it, the possibilities are endless much like nail stamping!

Using four main colours I created the ombre as the base of this design:

  • Green (thumb and pinky finger)
    • Mighty Mint – Colour by TBN
    • My Dogsled is a Hybrid – OPI
  • Baby Blue (index finger)
    • Gelato on My Mind – OPI
    • I’m Addicted – Essie
  • Purple (middle finger)
    • Polly want a Lacquer – OPI
    • Molly Coddled – Butter London
  • Sky Blue (pointer finger)
    • Dreams need Clara-fication – OPI
    • Blue Polish by David Jones (I couldn’t see the name for this one)

The pastel colour for this design should be the star of the show so I ensured that the darker shade would be used as little as possible.

Ombre Steps

To create a pastel ombre

  1. Apply a thin layer of the lightest polish and ensure this is fully dried before moving to the next step.
  2. Apply any kind of barrier around the outside of your nail. I personally use a latex barrier to make clean up easy!
  3. Grab any cheap makeup sponge and in stripes add the polish from darkest to lightest.
  4. Dab or roll this on your nail. The technique used will depend on the sponge, polish and personal preference.
  5. When the nail is fully dried repeat step 4. This will ensure that you don’t damage the polish that has already been applied. It shouldn’t take long to try as the polish is quite thin.
  6. Apply a topcoat. Don’t worry if it looks a little rough as generally, the topcoat will smooth out the design.

Ombre Pastel Easter Nails

Nail Stamping for Easter Nail Art

For the nail art component, I went with some zigzag lines to emulated the pattern you might find on an Easter egg using Maniology plate M090  (for 10% off Maniology use code THENAILCHRONICLE). This plate features a range of patterns that can create some really cool designs!

I paired the stamping polish to match the base colour rather than using black or the same colour. I added a coat of Maniology smudge-free top coat. My only regret is not using the latex barrier with the blue stripes as it stained my hand a little.

Easter Egg Nail Art

Overall

The Pastel Easter nail design turned out to be a bit brighter than I intended but it still looked cool. They loosely looked like easter eggs which is what I was going for!

Let me know in the comments if you think they look like Easter Eggs?
