It’s been a hectic few weeks, hence the lack of posts. So this week to kick off the Christmas series for 2021 I thought I would start with some super easy Christmas Nail Art. This design uses a slightly different type of sticker from what I have used in the past but you could use any sticker style that you like.
Super Easy Christmas Nail Art
This design started with one of the most Christmasy shades I have. A glittery white by OPI called Pearl of Wisdom. This is a really pretty white shade. However, it takes forever to set and even though it looks dry it’s generally still soft. This caused a few issues with the application of the stickers as I’ll explain below.
The stickers I used are called Rub-on Nail Decals by Maniology (use my code THENAILCHRONICLE for 10% off). I picked these stickers up a while ago and I was really disappointed that I forgot to use them last year so these were top of my list for design ideas.
They are super easy to use and I would almost say easier than water decals, just because you don’t have to soak them. To use the stickers, just cut out the sticker, remove the paper backing and then rub your finger over the sticker until it sticks. Make sure to get all the edges, I had a few where the centre had stuck down whereas the edge wasn’t quite ready.
Because of the rubbing, it’s important that the polish is not only dry but has also fully set. If you’re not sure if it is completely set, try applying the sticker to your thumbnail where it will be less obvious if something goes wrong. Otherwise waiting overnight or a few hours might be a safer approach.
Another technique that helped a little was using a quick dry top coat to help set the polish. This helped a little but in the end, I decided to wait until the following day to complete the design.
Once you’re happy with the sticker placement as always add your favourite top coat!!
Overall
Generally, this is a super quick and easy design. However, with the challenges from my base colour, it ended up being a little harder than expected.
