After seeing Maniology’s Hawaii Christmas Themed Nail art I was inspired to create my own Aussie Christmas Nail Art. This design would need to use a mix of stamping plates to create the Aussie, Christmas crossover. I also wanted to do something special for the base and seeing as I haven’t done an ombre for ages I thought a blue ombre would be perfect and I wanted to create some beach scenes.
Aussie Christmas Nail Art | Starting with the Ombre Glitter
As with all my Ombres, I started out with one coat of my base colour. In this case OPI, Dreams need Clara-fication one of my favourite blues. Because the first coat was a little too sheer/streaky I decided to add a second coat.
While looking for other shades for this ombre I came across OPI let love sparkle and straight away knew that I wanted to use that instead. I think I have used this combo together before however, I decided to tweak it a little by using a sponge. This worked really well and added a nice effect.
When I was happy I added a top coat to both help smooth out the design and make the glitter pop! Plus it would help prevent any colour runs.
Nail Stamping
I had a rough idea in my head of what I was going to do but hadn’t quite settled on the exact details. Given that I was filming I decided to experiment on my left hand so that I could then use might right hand for filming.
I started out with the Aussie aspect using Maniology plate BM-XL160 as part of their Around the World set. On each ring finger, I applied red and green kangaroos using Konad stamping polish.
Moving onto the reverse stamping I used Maniology plate M039, a cute Christmas large-sized plate (use my code THENAILCHRONICLE for 10% off Maniology). Finally having access to my stamping mat again, I applied a range of images to the mat using Konad black. Each image was then filled in (list below) and topped with Maniology smudge-free topcoat.
To fill in the images I used:
- Apricot Sour (peach) – Hit the Bottle
- Chiffon on my mind (sparkly white) – OPl
- Many Celebrations to Go (gold) – OPI
- Tell me about it stud (bright red) – OPI
- My Private Jet (sparkly brown/bronze) – OPI
- My Dogsled is a hybrid (green) – OPI
- Red – Konad
- Green – Konad
- Black – Konad
- Nirvana (brown) – Sinful colours
Once dry, you can tell by the ability to cleanly lift the decal from the mat, I applied the decal on my nail. Added a little extra stamping including some text that said ‘G’Day Mate’ and topped with off with maniology Smudge-free topcoat followed by Revlon Quick Dry Top Coat.
Overall
While it’s not 100% the design I had in my head I’m really happy that I changed it up. Considering it’s been a few months since reverse stamping on my mat I’m glad I didn’t lose too much of my skill!
Let me know in the comments if you will be doing Christmas Nail Art.
