I created this design over the Christmas break where I wasn’t feeling like creating anything too fancy. Yet I still wanted to create something pretty. So I went to one of my go-to techniques to create this Nail Art for when I’m feeling lazy.
Nail Art for when I’m feeling lazy
This design doesn’t need too much in the way of equipment or anything special. It’s highly likely that you already have everything that you need.
Start out with a base coat to protect your nails and help the design last as long as possible. After all, you don’t want to have to redo the design after just a few days.
Pick two polishes that you can layer. Generally one solid colour and one glitter or topper.
For this design, I used two OPI polishes from the Hello Kitty Collection. A dark navy blue called My favourite Gal Pal, that has made a few appearances in my designs over the last year. The second polish was Pile on the Sprinkles a purple glitter polish.
I wasn’t sure if the two polishes would work together as the purple is so light and the blue is very dark. So I did a quick test on a scrap piece of paper just to make sure before I applied it onto my nails.
Luckily the combo worked well and created this awesome effect! I couldn’t wait to see how this look on my nails.
Because the blue was quite thin I needed three coats, which is surprising given how dark it is (the image below shows one coat). This isn’t the first time I’ve come across this with OPI, as I’ve had this issue with a black polish. However generally most of the darker OPI polishes are one coater. However, as I go into more depth in my video I think there may be another reason for the sheerness of this polish.
I then added a coat of Pile on the Sprinkles. The whole design was sealed in with a topcoat.
Overall
This super easy nail art lasted for ages. It can be done with almost any polish as long as the colour combinations work together.
