Valentines Day Nail Art – Not Your typical design

Valentines Day Nail Art

If you’ve seen my past On-time state designs you know not a huge fan of the day. It just has never appealed to me as I feel that it’s way too overly commercialised. However, that doesn’t stop me from wanting to create some really cute Valentines Day Nail Art.

Rather than the super cute or pink design that I have done in the past this year decided to create something more subtle. I wanted to create something that didn’t look over you Valentine’s Day but still looked pretty.

The Base

In line with my theme of wanting to keep this subtle, I went with a dark green-blue, Cobalt Indecent by Loreal Paris. This shade isn’t the darkest blue have used but it made it perfect for the nail stamping to go over the top. I’ve previously used Cobalt Indecent on a Halloween design: Green Frankenstein Nail Art | Halloween 2019 | Design 2

This shade is really pretty and fun it’s not too dark or too light. The wear and tear of this polish was excellent!! There was hardly any chipping despite wearing the polish for about 4 days before I did any stamping or even applied a topcoat.

The only problem was I had no idea what colour I was gonna use to stand over the top. Hence why it remained untouched for four days.

Valentines Day Nail Art | Let’s get romantic

Given that I was a little stuck on what to stamp on my nails I decided to at least start with picking a stamping colour.

I started by swatching some of Cobalt Indecent onto a bit of paper. Then with a small brush, I applied thin lines of the different stamping polishes that I thought would work. I wanted to use think lines to emulate some of the small images that I planned to use. My 1st guess was that yellow would look the best. However, I also tried other shades. Very quickly it became clear that yellow would be the best shade for this design.

Using an old Maniology stamping plate, BM-606 (from their previous name of Bundle Monster) with Hit the Bottle stamping polish, Lemon Meringue.

I was hoping to use most of the images, especially the top image with multiple arrows. Unforuntlaty I just couldn’t get that image to pick. However, all the other images worked well. I find with these smaller round plates sometimes using the konad stamper and taking less polish off with the scraper helps to pick up the images.

Once complete I applied my usual Maniology smudge-free topcoat, followed by a quick dry clear topcoat.

Overall

I’m so happy with how this turned out. I loved the yellow stood out over the top of the dark polish, while not taking over the whole design. It surprised me with hope balanced it ended up.
