Mid last year I picked up a bunch of new stamping polishes with pastel colours including a beautiful yellow that I have been dying to try out. I’ve been sitting on this one for a while as I wasn’t sure on the design that I would create other than something for Easter in a few months time. Finally, inspiration hit and I remembered that I have this super cute bumble bee stamping plate from Maniology that would be perfect for the yellow. So I decided to create a Bumble Bee Nail Art design.
The Base
For this design, all I had planned is that I would be using Hit the Bottle, Lemon Meringue for the stamping. I wasn’t sure if this was going to be for filling in the reverse stamping or stamping the images themselves. After going through my colours I ended up landing on wanting to do a black base with yellow stamping on the top.
I wasn’t sure how well the yellow would show up on the black so I did a quick test on some paper first, which worked really well. However I still wasn’t feeling super confident, so I did a second test on just one nail. I applied two coats of black polish followed by stamping the image on with Lemon Meringue. It worked really well so I continue on with applying two coats of black polish to the rest of my nails.
I have no idea what brand/name the black polish I used is but it’s really good. It’s almost a one coater. With the stamping, I potentially could have only used one coat but there were some light patches so I decided to add a second coat.
Bumble Bee Nail Art
I used a Maniology choose your own stamping plate, CYO X Maniology M035 that has really cute bee details!!
(Get 10% off Maniology with my code THENAILCHRONICLE)
I decided to stamp on a different image for each hand, keeping the full-size stamps for the centre nails and the smaller images for the remaining nails.
On my left hand, I decided to have a little fun and add a couple of puns to my design.
The yellow stamping polish showed up really well against the black and I was really happy with how it turned out.
I topped the design with Maniology Smudge Free Top Coat and a regular top coat polish.
Overall
This was such a fun design to create and I’m so happy to have finally used the yellow stamping polish!
What design would you create with a yellow stamping polish?
