This year’s St Patrick’s Day Nails was quite hard as I was struggling to come up with a design that I haven’t done before. I don’t have a St Patrick’s Day themed stamping plate so this made it even more challenging. I’ve done a lot of the classic designs and really wanted to do something different.
The Base
Given that I was stuck I decided to at least get started with selecting my colours, which were of course going to be green in one form or another. I decided to go with a light green base and dark green stamping or nail art.
I used Mighty Mint a light minty green shade by Colour by TBN. This polish can be a little streaky and thin so it generally requires three coats. However, I’m not too bothered by this as the polish dries pretty quickly and the end result looks great!
St Patrick’s Day Nails
After adding the base colour I decided to flick through my stamping plate folder to see if something would jump out at me. I was thinking maybe a cool pattern would look nice. At first, I selected a patterned maniology stamping plate. However, I then spotted a really cool woven style pattern that would be perfect on the Creative shop Game of Thrones/Walking Dead Stamping plate (plate #35).
Using Maniology Stamping polish Tree of Life, I added the Celtic style pattern to each nail.
As usual, this design was topped with Maniology smudge-free top coat followed by a clear topcoat.
….
Overall
I loved the end result, especially considering I had no idea what design I was going to do. I hope for next year I have remembered to get a St Patrick’s Day themed stamping plate so that I have some more design ideas.
