Given that Harry Potter’s Bday is coming up on 31 July and it’s been ages since I’ve pulled out my Harry Potter Stamping plates, I could resist the idea of doing some Harry Potter Nail Art. This idea of doing Harry Potter Nail Art wasn’t wholly my own. I was chatting with chillsthrillbeauty over on YT. She mentioned that she was considering doing some Harry Potter Nails given that his birthday is coming up and I couldn’t resist jumping in on the idea.
The Base
For the base, I was tossing up between a few different colours. I was originally thinking to apply a dark red shade however I was worried that it would come out too dark. So just to get things going I started out with a white base, using my favourite OPI, Alpine Snow. If I decided that I wanted to change the colour as I started to apply the colour at least I could add a coat of the new colour over the top pretty easily.
Harry Potter Nail Art
For the design, I’m using hehe stamping plates 025 and 026. These were some of the first stamping plates I purchased ever, so they hold a special place in my stamping plate collection. I decided to reverse stamp the emblems to add a pop of colour to the design.
For all of the black outlines and pattered stamping I used Hit the Bottle, Stuck on you.
The reverse stamping used:
- Nails Inc – Queen Victoria Street – Green
- Nails Inc – Notting Hill Carnival – Yellow
- OPI – Rich Girls and Po Boys – Blue
- OPI – Tell me about it Stud – Red
Unfortunately, the red was a little darker than I wanted but at least I had applied a small amount of OPI Many Celebrations to go on the Grifendor Lion which I think pulled it back slightly. Other than the red I was really happy with the colours and so decided to just go with it especially as I really didn’t want to have to redo both the reversed images.
To complete the design, I topped my nails off with a Maniology smudge-free top coat, followed by Revlon Quick Dry Topcoat (use my code THENAILCHRONICLE for 10% off Maniology).
Overall
This was such a fun design to create and I really enjoyed using the Harry Potter stamping plates again!
