A Spring Fling – Green Flower Nail Art

Last weekend I attended my very first high tea and of course, I needed to update my nails for the occasion. I’ll post the link with the high tea details soon! But first I want to share my spring nail art with you!

In preparation for going to my first high tea, I decided to create some spring-themed nails. Its still quite warm here in Sydney and so while we are headed into Autumn it actually feels like its springtime. The spring theme also matched the image I had in my head about high tea. Where high-class people would sit in the garden eating mini sandwiches and drinking tea. I later found out that high tea was started by the lower class. You can read more about high tea’s history here: http://thetearoom.com.au/high-tea-menu/

The design – Spring Nail Art

With the spring theme in mind, I immediately knew my base colour had to be green! I then began looking through my nail plates for a design. However, I release I hadn’t used any stickers or decals for quite a while (not including my self-made decals – post yet to come). So looking through my collection I found a white flower pattern. I think I may have picked up this design from Priceline.

I wasn’t sure how I was going to put this design together and I was tosing up to do an ombre or just use a single colour. If I am ever in doubt on how the design will come together, I will always grab a piece of paper and mark out some rough designs. Using the paper to layout designs quite useful particularly if your not sure if the shades will go together.

I ended up going with the OPI polish ‘My Dogsled is a Hybrid’ a beautiful pastel green and the nail stickers. I have used this green few times and its definitely one of my favourites! Take a look at my other designs Pineapple goes on pizza and my 2017 St Patrick’s Day nails. I felt that the complexity of the nail stickers suited a plain colour and so I kept the base simple.
