How to: Cute Strawberry Nails

Cute Strawberry Nails

Back in Christmas one, my friends gave me three awesome nail art kits. I used one of the kits for my NYE design. The kit I’m using for this mani includes cute berry decorations with a bright pink scented polish. Yes, it truly smells like berries. Just make sure you wait until it has dried otherwise it just smells like nail polish! I hope you like my cute strawberry nails!

Starting with the base coat I applied to coats of polish. The polish was a little thick so I took care to apply it in thin layers.

Rather than staying with the plain pink, I added in some stamping to create some background branches. I trialled a few different greens to ensure that it could be seen and wouldn’t clash too much with the pink. The colour appeared a little differently on my hands then on the paper but it still worked. BMC plate BM-703 was used.

Strawberry Nail Decorations

I decided to add the top coat (OPI start to finish) before adding the strawberry decorations. This topcoat is great for stamping as it doesn’t smudge and is an excellent all-rounder clear polish. However, I wish the brush was longer.

To attach the strawberries there are two options. Use glue or polish. Personally, I will always use polish as it’s far easier to remove and I am always fearful of the glue damaging my nails. The decorations were flexible making it easier to apply as I could bend them around the nail. I was using Rimmel Finishing Touch top coat. The topcoat was drying quite quickly and so I could only do one nail at a time. I also had to hold down some of the decorations so that they would set in place around the nail to prevent it from catching on my hair or clothing.

After applying all of the strawberries I added two additional topcoats to prevent any damage.

The Final Result

Overall I am quite happy with how my cute strawberry nails turned out. I was rather surprised that I could leave them on for a week. I find having items on my nails quite irritating and it took a lot of control to not tear them off. Still, they looked pretty and this help to stop me pulling them off.
