My first China glaze experience – Are you red-y for this?

Are you red-y for this

If you have been following the nail art part of the blog you would know that I have been trying a lot new nail art products which has been great fun! The latest polish I’ve tried is “are you red-y for this” by China Glaze.

China Glaze is quite well known internationally however not it’s not so well known in Australia. So it wasn’t until I had started interacting with the nail art community that I discovered China Glaze among other nail polish brands.

I was very spoilt as my partner purchased quite a few polishes from the China Glaze collection to try. This just happens to be the first one that I am trying.

The first layer applied rather smoothly. However, it felt like it took ages to dry. I don’t know if it was just the weather as it was a miserable raining day or if it was simply the formula. I’ll have to try a few of the other colours to see if this is a one-off issue.

Finally, after waiting a while I applied the second coat followed by a top coat. I left my nails as they were to ensure they had a few hours to dry before heading out. Unfortunately, this wasn’t long enough and I damaged three nails. I felt that the time that I waited for the polish to dry should have been long enough for no damage to occur. This was rather disappointing.

After heading home I quickly repaired nails. Feeling a bit defeated I decided to simply apply some water decals that I had left over from another design. Sadly a few of these were damaged as I tried to remove them but I managed to save enough to apply to each nail.

In terms of the ware, the polish was not strong. Within two days I had major chips on a few nails. It wasn’t so bad that I wasn’t considering redoing my nails but I did think about it.

So was I red-y for this?

Well, honestly I was hoping for better. The colour is amazing and I have been trying to add more reds to my polish collection. However the drying time, the ease in which damage occurred and the level of chips left me feeling disappointed.

Overall it’s an ‘Are you red-y for this’ is an average polish, however, I am glad to add a new red to my nail polish collection.
