Melbourne Breakfast at The Good Egg

The Good Egg - B&E

After an early wake-up and desperately needing coffee before the day’s adventures we headed towards the markets for breakfast. We walked around the outside of the markets where the cafes were located. Most of the cafes are quite small which added to the challenge of finding a place that would both have something for everyone and fit all six of us. We all agreed on dining at The Good Egg. We managed to find a table and the waiter brought out an extra bench so that we could all fit. It was a little squishy but it wasn’t too bad.

I order a large soy cappuccino with an extra shot and the B&E roll. Quite often the server will question my coffee order making sure that I know there will be three shots in it. I love the reaction of the servers when I respond that I still wish to keep my order as is. I know that it’s a lot of coffee but this amount of caffeine was certainly needed for the day ahead. If your curious what else they have on offer take a look at the menu: http://goodeggmelbourne.com.au/menu.php There is something for everyone on the menu from toast, to warm porridge or dippy eggs. As dippy eggs were a childhood favourite, I was very tempted to order them instead of the B&E roll.

Our food and drinks arrived quite quickly! The coffee was great it was smooth which was amazing considering the strength I ordered.

The B&E was delicious. I loved the idea of having scrambled eggs instead of fried. It added a completely different texture to the meal. The egg was perfectly cooked and the bacon had the right amount of crunch without being burnt.

Overall – 3.75/5

It was great sitting in the sun, warming up with some amazing food, coffee and friends. The coffee was on point and the service was friendly. Everyone at the table seemed to be enjoying their meals.

Next time I’m in Melbourne I will be definitely visiting again to try out some of the other items on their menu!
