ILNP – Play Hard

ILNP Play Hard

Play Hard by indie brand ILNP is a beautiful shade with hints of purple, pink and silver. It’s been sitting in my ‘yet to try pile’ for a while now. Mostly due to a large amount of glitter in the polish. However, now that I have the peel off base coat glitter isn’t so much of an issue anymore.

Play Hard

When I purchase this polish I was intrigued by the purple undertones with just a hint of pink. I did plan to use this for an accent nail but I decided to be bold and use it across my entire hand. After my last experience with a glitter polish where it took four coats to become opaque, I decided to apply a base colour.  I chose black for the base coat to provide a solid colour underneath the glitter. I wasn’t worried about the black poking through as I know from other ILNP polishes they are generally quite opaque. After allowing the black to dry, I applied the first coat of Play Hard. Just from this first coat barely any of the black polished showed through. After applying the second coat other then the small amount of black poking through on the edges I couldn’t see the base colour at all. I decided to leave the edges at the were as they toned down the brightness of Play Hard just a little.

The colour that appeared really depended on the lighting rarely did the light show the purples and pinks. Rather when applied on the nail the silver showed through more strongly. This was a little disappointing but its still such a pretty polish.

Play Hard held up to the wear of the other ILNP polish with bearly a chip in sight. My only casualty was the premature loss of one nail where the peel off base coat worked just a little too well.

ILNP Play Hard

Overall – 4.2/5

I really liked this polish, it has a great level of opaqueness, is hardwearing and most importantly I love the colour!

  1. Aw that is disappointing indeed especially if it advertises having purple and pink in it but you’re right! The silver still looks nice.
