Day 3 Melbourne Trip – Exploring part 2

Towards the end of day 2, we headed to our second round of accommodation for our Melbourne trip. This one was far more basic but it had what we needed. The front entrance to the hotel was nice, however, the area where the rooms were located felt cold. It also didn’t help that the layout of the back of the hotel reminded me of Fremantle prison in Perth, Western Australia. Despite this, the bed was at least decent.

First things first, breakfast! We headed to a small little cafe down hardware lane. The coffee was great! As was the food. My only disappointment was that the rösti was just a hashbrown. I’m beginning to wonder if it’s just a Melbourne thing to call a hashbrown a rösti so that they can make it sound fancier, as this was the second time I had this issue. Let me know in the comments if you have also found this.

We then headed towards the state library. It’s great fun to explore and is really cool inside. If you get the chance I recommended taking a look.

After having a late night previously we decided it was time for second coffee. We headed towards Dukes coffee. The line looked a little long but we decided to give it a go anyway. We placed our order and grabbed a seat that had just become available. It was mid-morning yet the place was packed. We received our coffees really quickly and the service was great! I have saved this place for the next time I’m in Melbourne.

Southbank

After refuelling, my partner and I headed towards Southbank to explore the area. We walked through the park before heading into the shopping centre. I was about 15 last time I visited the centre and I was curious how it looked.

Tiring of the shops we made the decision to check out the Eureka Tower which was close by.  I’m still not quite convinced it was worth the money to visit but the views were amazing. However, I would rather go hiking somewhere to get amazing views. Still, it was an ok experience and I’m glad that I have done it.

Late Lunch and End of the day

After all our walking we headed back into the heart of the city in the search of a late lunch. We walked past a place called Betty’s Burgers a few times and I was quite curious. So we thought we would give it a go. The ordering system was easy to follow and the service was very friendly. I absolutely love the food. The burgers were fresh and chicken so crunchy. In tradition, my partner and I chose a burger each and shared them so we could try a bit of both. The next time I go, I definitely want to give the milkshake a go. I couldn’t this round as I had dinner planned for a few hours later.

I will save dinner for another post because it truly deserves a post on its own. What I will leave you with is that after three days of eating out we just needed some greens! I was so glad Woolworths was open and close by. Whilst it was a little pricey as I’m used to making my own salad, I was glad to get some veggies.
