Halloween Nail Art – Design 2 – Frankenstein Nail Art

With Halloween fast approaching, its time to showcase my 2nd Halloween design, cute Frankenstein Nail Art!! This design is a stark contrast to my first design featuring a dark haunted house. Similar to my last design and next three designs, I can’t take credit for the Halloween Nail Art design itself as I have entered a competition where you copy one of the 10 designs.

Bright Green is Made for Halloween Nail Art

I started this design with the brightest green that I had in my collection. I’m trying to not buy too many new polishes and work through some of the ones that I already have. I originally purchased this for the grass of a spring design, however, as you can see in the swatches below it is way bright. I wondered what I was thinking when I chose this colour. My only theory is that the shop lighting made this colour look darker then it actually is. But at least it has been useful for two of my designs including this one.

Oh No – not freehand

So freehand is definitely not a strength of mine. I can never paint a straight line which made me a little nervous to do this. However, I selected this option as I wanted to push myself a little. Worse case it would be a little messy but given that its a monster it wouldn’t matter too much. Knowing this certainly took the pressure off.

I started with the stitches and hair. Using a dotting tool made this part really easy. I took my time and had fun with it. For the ring finger, I drew a line with the dotting tool first. I then used the brush to paint the blacktop. I also used the dotting tool for the eyes. I still manage to always have one bad eye but at least this is a monster so I wasn’t too worried.

I found the bow of the ring finger to be the hardest part to complete. In hindsight, I should have swapped to a smaller dotting tool so that I could have more chance of drawing the finer details. The hair of the monster on my middle finger was surprisingly not too hard to complete. I have tried a similar design before and completely messed it up so I’m going to take this as a sign that my skills are improving.

Overall

I’m really happy with the Frankenstein Nail art and how it turned out! It’s very cute and really easy to do. Just take your time and don’t rush.
