Finishing off the competition entries I went with another simple design, brightly coloured skull nail art. Whilst this one was simple it did require a lot of different colours. However, I found it a little challenging as I’m yet to perfect my dots. Despite this its a really fun design for Halloween.
Skull Nail Art
I started this design with a white base. I then decided to start with the mouth and middle dots of the eyes as both used black polish. I wasn’t able to create the hollow circle so I freelanced it a bit used solid circles instead. I took care to ensure that the eyes were spaced far enough apart so that I would have room for the coloured dots.
For the dots I used the following colours:
- Orange: OPI – The IT Colour
- Pink: Models Prefer – Rose Angel
- Yellow: Julisa – Queen Bee
- Purple: Nails Inc – St Johns Wood
- Blue: Essie – Strut Your Stuff
To increase the speed of applying the colours I used a single colour on all nails before changing to the next colour. This made clean up of my tools much easier and allowed me to spend more time to apply the dots. As I noted at the beginning of this post the hardest part of the design is trying to get uniform dots especially around the eyes. When it comes to doing the dots around the eyes, I recommend ensuring that the dots aren’t too big as they will touch the other eye. It doesn’t matter if the dots are small.
Overall
I really enjoyed creating this design! The skull nail art is really funky. It’s a design that you can wing and have a bit of fun with it! Give the design a go, its pretty easy and lots of fun to create!

These are so cute, I wish I was better at nails, I can barely paint just one standard colour haha! x
Thanks so much! It certainly takes a lot of practice
