This design was conceived after I joined a collab that was themed Kawaii (cute) Halloween! We could choose from a number of options so I selected the kitten theme, as I had some water decals that I have been dying to use so I went ahead with my Kawaii Kitten Halloween Nail Art design. I know that I’m posting this way after Halloween but these nails are more on the kawaii side then Halloween so I decided that I should still post this. The spooky thing about these cute kitten nail is that my friend used nearly the same base colour despite living halfway around the world.
The Base
I started out with OPI’s Checkout the old Geysers. This beautiful blue has a really nice blue shimmer to it and looks beautiful on its own.
I wanted to add extra depth to the design so I added light blue stamping. When I applied the stamped design, I was really worried that the blue I had chosen was too light and that I wouldn’t be able to see it. I decided to keep going with the colour and just hoped that it would turn out ok.
Luckily the blue stamping was able to be seen without overpowering the design as I wanted the cats to be the standout feature of the nails. I was really glad I stuck with my original idea as I loved how it turned out.
Add a splash of Kawaii
Now onto the easiest part of this design, the cats. I picked this water decal sheet up from a Korean Shopping haul. The decals that I used seemed to be quite sensitive to being soaked in the water. If I left it too long then the decal would become too soft and unmanageable. So I had to break the soaking of decals into smaller batches to ensure that they didn’t remain in the water for too long.
Overall
Overall I feel that this Kawaii Kitten Halloween Nail Art design meets the criteria of kawaii Halloween. I’m glad that I added the stamping to add depth to the design. However if your not comfortable with stamping just using the water decals will still achieve a really cute design!
