Christmas Nail Art Design 2018 #1 – Snowman and Stockings

Christmas Nail Art

Welcome to the beginning of my 2018 Christmas Nail Art series! I’m not quite sure how many designs I will do this year but I am targeting four. I just went over my last posts and realised that I didn’t do a 2017 Christmas series :0. This makes 2018 a little more exciting. In addition to nail stamping, I will also create some non-stamping nail art so stay tuned for that especially if stamping isn’t your thing.

For everything Christmas related follows my Pinterest board here: https://www.pinterest.com.au/NailChronicle/christmas-nail-art/

Christmas Nail Art – Snowman and Stockings

This first design for 2018 includes some reverse stamping but it could be easily done with just regular stamping.

I started out with a green base coat using Sinful Color’s, road trip. After a few light coats, I moved onto the stamping. I used Born Pretty plate BPX-L008. I was hoping that my new Maniology (Bundle Monster) plates would arrive in time, however, sadly they didn’t quite make it.

Moving onto the reverse stamping first, meant that I could let the designs dry whilst applying the standard stamping. I chose black stamping polish so that it would stand out from the green. For the solid image, I applied images of a Christmas present, a winter deer and some snowflakes. For the reverse stamping, I used two different images, Christmas stockings and snowmen.

Using ILNP Love me not for the Christmas stocking I was able to create a sparkly image that is quite festive. Once I was happy with the image I applied OPI’s start to finish over the image and allowed it to dry. I created four of images just in case I damaged a few or if they didn’t turn out as I planned. I also used the same technique for the snowman. For the snowman, I used OPI Alpine Snow for the body and ILNP Love me not for the hat.

After waiting for the design to dry I carefully lifted it up and applied it to my nail. Because I made the images a little big I trimmed the edges with some nail scissors, before using a little nail polish remover to tidy up the edge.

Overall

After applying the designs and letting them dry for a few hours I applied OPI Start to Finish for the top coat. Normally only 30mins wait is required between stamping and top coats however I got distracted with a few things.
