Easy Christmas Nails 2019 – #1 – Oh Christmas!

Easy Christmas Nails 2019 - Christmas Tree

Starting this year’s Christmas design with something fun, so I decided to bring out one of my cute Christmas nail stamping plates to create some Christmas decals. This design also has some easy to follow elements that could be picked up and applied to your nails. I hope you enjoy design #1 of my Easy Christmas Nails for 2019.

Base Colour

I started with OPI – The Silver’s Mine! for the accent nail. I initially added a white shade to the other nails but decided that it didn’t quite work with the silver accent nail. Instead, I used Nail’s Inc – Queen Victoria Street, a green shade that very much fits within the Christmas theme. The contrasting colours worked well together and created a great base for the next step.

Easy Christmas Nails – The tree

For the accent nail, I chose to apply a Christmas tree. Using born pretty plate BPX-L008 I picked up the star images. With the scraper, I took off the edge of the image to create a triangle shape before stamping it on to each accent nail.

I had planned to leave the design as is but I felt that it didn’t quite look like a Christmas tree, rather it looked more like a bunch of messy lines. Using two straight guides that are normally used to create french tips, I pained black lines on the edge of the tree. This created a more defines shape and made the Christmas tree look more tree-like.

For the topper, I added two small gems, using clear polish to stick them down.

Christmas Nail Art Decals

I started the 2nd stage by stamping the images onto my stamping mat (get your mat here) using Konad black. For this I used Maniology plate M039, aiming to use as many different images except the Christmas tree as I didn’t want to crowd the accent nails. I used the following polishes to fill in each image:

  • ILNP – Aerial view
  • ILNP – Blueprint
  • China Glaze – Snow
  • ILNP – Love Me Now
  • OPI – Pearl of wisdom
  • Color show – Broadway blues

I then applied a coat of clear polish on top and waited for it to dry before picking the images with a pair of tweezers and applying it to my nail.

To finish I added a final clear coat on top.

Overall

I loved how this turned out, especially the accent nail. I loved the small touch of glitter from the ILNP polishes used in the reverse stamping. The only thing I would do differently is change up the colours slightly as a few of the colours were too close to the base colour.

Let me know in the comments will you be doing any Christmas nail art or special makeup.
