Winter Wonderland Nail Art Tutorial

Snow Flake Nail Art

This design was created as part of a collaboration where the theme was something along the lines of glittery winter. The collaboration was a while ago and I can’t remember the exact wording. This was the perfect opportunity to use the flakes that I received as part of a prize to create the Winter Wonderland Nail Art.

It feels odd to create winter designs when its nearly 40 degrees outside. However, it was nice to think about something else other than how hot it was! I’m really looking forward to the summer being over as its been really hot this year.

I started with a few coats of light blue as the base of my snowflake nail art. This was to create a bit of a winter blues effect. I also envisioned it to be a bit like the cold wind generated from snow. Once the second coat of blue was just tacky, I applied the shimmery flakes to ensure they stuck to my nail. I was expecting the flakes to have shimmer on both sides. However, it was only shimmery on one side meaning that my nail didn’t have as much sparkle as I wanted. Despite this, I was still was able to create the effect that I was after.

Wanting to add a little more to the design, I stamped on snowflakes across each nail. I was glad to be able to finally use my light blue konad stamping polish. I bought this a few months back it didn’t work with any of the designs that I was creating. Following the stamping, I applied a few coats of clear to ensure the flakes held on and make sure the design lasted as long as possible.

Overall

I’m really happy with how this turned out. I was worried after I applied the flakes that it would look dull and lack the shimmer that I was after. However, it had just the right amount of shine and winter feel to the design.

It was such a fun design to create and one that pushed me to use the flakes, which I’ve put off for a while.
