Summer Nail Art | ILNP – Blue print

With summer well and truly over, I thought I would do one last summer nail design. This nail art idea came from thinking about the beach and summer rain. With cyclones in the north of Australia it tends to affect the weather down in Sydney, so we have had lots of rain recently.

A summer blueprint

This design started out with ILNP – Blue Print. This polish is a shiny deep sea blue, that reflects beautifully in the light.

It’s not very opaque and took four coats for it to no longer be transparent. It could have done with a fifth coat but I decided to stick with the four. I think in this case I would have been better applying a base colour to improve the opacity.

Despite the four coats, each layer dried quickly. It’s definitely a positive feature that I have noticed for all ILNP polishes (check out my other review here).

Despite the lack of opacity Blue Print is such a beautiful summer colour however it is very bright. This is where some nail stamping came in handy. A water decal or nail sticker could also work.

Adding to the Blue Print

Whilst I love the bright summer vibes from the ILNP polish, I felt it was a little too bright for work. So I’ve added to the polish with some nail stamping.

Continuing with my aim to use all of my plates, I selected plate Maniology plate BM-711 that has a bit of a Hawaiian theme with beautiful flowers all over the plate.

Sticking with the aim of dampening the brightness of the ILNP polish I used a black Konad stamping polish, carefully stamping different flower images across each nail in keeping with the summer theme of this design.

Final thoughts

I had heaps of fun creating this end of summer design. I’m glad I added the stamping but the colour can definitely stand on its own. Let me know in the comments what do you do to celebrate the end of summer?
