I took Friday off in the hope of going for a bushwalk somewhere, most likely the Royal National park. Unfortunately, the weather put a stop to this. So instead I decided to take my partner to Koku Culture cafe as he was too unwell to visit the first time. We tried a few new items and of course got the famous pancakes!
Coffee and other delicious drinks
I recommend that my partner start out with a matcha latte, which is the drink I ordered on my first visit. He loved the matcha latte. It has such a deep matcha flavour and doesn’t taste watered down like others that I have had. If you like matcha then I highly recommend getting this drink.
I ordered the Sukura Lemonade. The drink was a beautiful pink colour and had the taste of homemade lemonade with a floral scent. Two flowers floating in the drink added such a nice touch. It was such a lovely refreshing drink.
After finishing our meals whilst waiting for the pancakes, we decided to order a second drink. After all, it was raining and we really didn’t have anywhere to be. I ordered a matcha latte for myself are having a bit of drink envy. Whilst my partner ordered a cappuccino. My matcha latte arrived with the cutest cat latte art.
It was still cute after a few sips!
I couldn’t believe how good it was. I also spotted a unicorn past by. It was such a lovely touch, the barista has so much talent. The cappuccino had a really nice flavour and was also really well made.
Koku Culture Food
Both my partner and I decided to order the burgers. I ordered the cheeseburger and my partner ordered the chicken. These aren’t your typical burgers. Instead of a bread bun, they are served with crispy rice that encases the burger’s contents.
The burgers arrived with heaps of chips on the side!
The crispy rice ‘bun’ was held together with a large piece of nori. The contents were neatly contained within the burger. I was a little worried about how I would go about picking this up and even contemplated using a knife and fork. I decided to give it a go anyway and much to my surprise it was easy to pick up and held together really well.
Each flavour was really well balanced, the rice and nori didn’t overpower the other flavours. I really loved the sauce that came with the chicken burger. Both burgers were delicious.
We were so excited when the famous Creme Brulee Pancakes arrived. I won’t go into too much detail here, as I wrote about them in my last post. They were just as good as I remember. My partner absolutely loved them as well. The side fruit had changed slightly but this is to be expected with the change in season. I really love it when places use seasonal ingredients.
Overall
I really can’t fault Kuko Culture. There food and drink are amazing. I can see why they have a full house even during the week. It’s certainly worth waiting a while for a table. I wouldn’t recommend visiting if you have a large group but for small groups, it’s an excellent place to catch up.
