Floriade – Tulip Festival Canberra

Floriade - Coloured Flowers

Last weekend my partner and I jumped in the car for a short trip to Canberra for one main reason, Floriade. I’ve been wanting to visit Floriade for a number of years however by the time I remembered it was on, it was too late and the event was already over. It seems that this is the year I’m finally getting around to completing a few things that are on my bucket list.

We had intended to visit on Saturday, however, the rain was quite heavy so we decided to wait it out and visit on Sunday. We parked in the National Library car park and walked across the bridge. The walk was short, 5 to 10 minutes. If you are having trouble finding parking I highly recommend looking around the library as there are heaps of parking spots available.

The bridge was really full of people yet it was still nice to walk across. Just after we crossed the bridge we came accross a few cherry blossom trees that were stunning.

We entered the venue through a small arch. There were a few people giving out information at the front. Although oddly the information booth was to the right a fair way away from the entrance but still within eyeshot. After grabbing a map we headed around the area. You can quite easily follow the path around, but if your looking for something in particular then the map will definitely be useful.

The flowers were absolutely beautiful. I loved that there was a mix of flowers not just tulips. The colours were magical.

As we were heading account we came across two buskers that were about to begin their performance. The show looked good so we decided to stop and watch. It was quite funny and very entertaining.

Overall

Floriade is a great event and I would definitely return. I would love to visit again especially for the night time event. Each week seems to have something new on as part of the festival program. Although I was recommended to visit in the middle of Floriade to see the best quality flowers.
