After a day exploring Cockatoo Island, we were in some need for some food. In particular steak! We had a look around for some suitable pubs nearby but then I remembered the Concord Hotel that I had curious about. After reviewing the menu online I found they had exactly what I was looking for. As a bonus, it’s a 2-minute walk from the train station. No, I’m not exaggerating it’s that close to the station. This has the bonus of not needing to drive which allowed me to drink as well.
Atmosphere and Ordering
The pub is of an old-style with a lot of wooden features. I especially loved the rotary phone on the wall. We forgot to ask if it still worked, it would be awesome if it was still in operation.
We picked up a few menus and chose a table. Orders were made at the counter and we were given a buzzer to collect our meals when ready. After placing our order we also grabbed our drinks from the bar.
Concord Hotel Food
I ordered a steak with mushroom sauce. For sides, I selected salad and chips. The food came out in a good amount of time.
The steak was cooked to medium just as I had requested. The salad was fresh and topped with a delicious dressing, it provided a nice break from the heavy steak and chips. The chips were crisp and exactly what you would want from chips. The mushroom sauce was so flavourful and the pieces of mushroom in the sauce added a nice texture.

All of the staff were friendly. Our meals were delicious and the pub had a great atmosphere. I will be returning soon to try the other dishes!
