Smiley Face Nail Art

With all of the bad stuff happening at the moment due to Covid-19 I thought I would create some bright happy nail art. I wasn’t feeling like doing stamping today, so I used nail stickers to create a smiley face nail art design.

Bright happy Yellow Smiley Nail Art

For the base, I choose a bright yellow by Nails Inc called Notting Hill Carnival. I felt this shade of yellow was bright and happy and would suit the smiley faces as it wouldn’t overshadow the stickers too much.  Due to it being a little streaky, I needed to apply 4 coats. The layers dried quickly so I wasn’t too bothered by the large number of coats required.

After taking my time to allow each layer to dry I moved onto the next stage, applying the nail stickers. I started lifting the stickers off the page. Even when folding the sticker page I was having trouble lifting the stickers so I used my tweezers to lift the stickers. By doing this it also prevents the risk of damaging the polish when lifting each sticker.

The sticker sheet includes some cute smaller shapes that I was able to combine with some of the larger stickers. I also created a sort of accent nail on my index finger by using some of the cute shapes instead of a smile.

When I had finished applying the stickers I added two coats of topcoat to protect the design. For stickers, I recommend applying at least two coats to stop the stickers from lifting.

Overall

I love the contrast of black and yellow. It creates a bright happy vibe that is exactly what I was going for with this smiley face nail art. I don’t typically wear yellow on its own but I’m glad I did for this design.

I hope you’re doing well in self-isolation and are making the most of it as much as possible.
