Mount Canobolas | A road trip adventure 2020 Part 4

Mount Canobolas

Heading into the last few days of our road trip we travelled Mount Canobolas to explore the natural aspects of Orange, NSW.

Day 3 – Mount Canobolas and Dinner

As the afternoon set in and the wineries were closing we set out to visit Mount Canobolas. We wouldn’t have time to go on a bushwalk but there would be plenty of time to check out the amazing view.

Driving up the mountain was interesting, the roads were narrow and winding however  I think most cars can handle the road. My little Yaris did well! Be careful as you drive around as there were some idiots racing around going over to my side of the road. The view from the top was incredible! It was too late for us to go for a walk and we weren’t really prepared. So I will be putting this on the list for our next visit. Even still the view was well worth the drive up the mountain.

The sun started to set so we decided to return to Orange before all of the kangaroos started popping out!

With a few hours to kill before dinner, we decided to explore the town on foot and work out where we would eat! Walking around the main CBD area we found a little Japanese restaurant that looked tasty. This time I called up and made a booking, learning from our mistake in Coonabarabran. The food was really tasty and I was so glad to get miso soup with our meal as it was freezing cold.

After finishing dinner we headed back to the B&B to eat dessert that we purchased at the bakery earlier and watch some TV in bed!

Day 4 – Home Time

We started our morning with some delicious muesli and coffee that were available at the B&B. Everything you could want for breaky was there. We stuck to a small breakfast as we wanted to return to the bakery from the previous day. We headed out pretty early but given that it was so cold I decided to get my car started and warmed up so it would drive better.

For brunch, I guess you could call it, we each grabbed a pie and a dessert each from Village Bakehouse. We couldn’t resist a second visit! The pies were delicious and I’m really glad we headed back.

For our last stop in Orange, we visited another cafe this time to try out there coffee which was highly rated online. This coffee was great! It had a smooth flavour and great taste.

We then started our journey back home with very full bellies and just one more place in mind. Our favourite pie shop in the Blue Mountains, Mountain High Pies.

This was a great trip. Even though it was short, it was nice to take a break and get out of the city.
