Cute Easter Nails | Layered Stamping Technique

Cute Easter Nail Art Chicken

In my last post, I noted that I didn’t think my maniology order that included an Easter Stamping plate would arrive in time. To my surprise, it showed up!! I couldn’t believe it, especially I had heard that the shipping had started to take longer again and this would be travelling from the US to Australia. So I’ve snuck in a third Easter design using the layered stamping technique. I hope you enjoy these Cute Easter Nails.

The Base

For this design, I decided to select a Glam Polish, Alohomora, a light subtle green with a light pinkish shimmer. This is such a pretty green perfect for spring and Easter designs. So much so that I have used it on a previous Easter design.

For this next stage, I used plate M189 an easter themed plate featuring images that could be used with the layered stamping technique (use code THENAILCHRONICLE for 10% off Maniology). When I purchased this plate I actually picked it just because of the cute Easter images and didn’t realise that it was a layered stamping plate. Of course, you can just do regular stamping with this plate as well.

Before I get into the steps you may be wondering what layered stamping is.

Layered is a process where you use multiples stamps over the top of each other to create an image.  For layered stamping, you will need a clear stamper so that you can line up the images. For this instruction, I will use the example of an Easter egg.

To start the layered stamping, select the rightmost image of the set, in the case of the Manoiology stamping plates, otherwise grab the image that should be on the bottom of the design.

In the case of the Easter Egg, you would grab the full egg shape in a colour of your choice turn places on your nail as you would with normal stamping. Give it a moment to dry, it shouldn’t take too long as it’s quite thin.

Then pick up the next image so in the case of the Easter egg, this is the actual character outline. Line up the image so that it’s over the top of the base image that you’ve just stabbed. Try to line up the images as close as possible. This can be quite tricky and takes a bit of practice. It took me about 3 attempts to get the hang of layered stamping and it’s still not perfect but it’s a work in progress. It does take a lot of practice so before you attempt your very first one I recommend trying it out on a stamping mat or even just a piece of paper.

When you’re happy with the placement put clear polish over the top. I personally recommend something like Maniology smudge-free top coat OPI start to finish (use code THENAILCHRONICLE for 10% off Maniology).

I ended up using a lot of colours for this design as you can see below

  • Light blue – BMC aka maniology Mercury bassline
  • Dark Blue – BMC aka Maniology – Midnight Madness
  • Pink – BMC aka Maniology  – Kandi Spririt
  • Dark Green -BMC aka Maniology  – Tree of Life
  • Orange – MDU – Geranium
  • Konad Black

Overall

I’m really happy with how these Cute Easter Nails turned out. This was my first successful layered stamping design and I’m glad I choose to use the layered stamping features.

If you’re just starting with layered stamping I recommend only two layers and not 3 as it’s a lot harder to line up all 3 images.

Pop over to my YouTube channel where I’ve got a few videos on this and you can see the mistakes I’ve made and what to do to fix them.

Thanks for popping by!!
Let me know in the comments if you’ve done layered stamping before or if you have any questions
