Kumo Brulee Japanese Pancake

In the food hub of Northbridge is Kumo Desserts a Japanese Pancake shop! I was scrolling through Instagram when I came across the most amazing looking Japanese pancakes and when I saw that they were within a reasonable distance I knew that I had to try them. They don’t take bookings so it’s recommended to visit at off-peak times. I love that they share their peak times on the website so you can plan accordingly. It’s within walking distance of the train station, however as the weather was looking like there may be a storm we opted to drive in. Parking can be a challenge so definitely allow for extra time if you drive.

We got really lucky that we didn’t have to wait for a table when we arrived and were seated straight away. This was an added bonus as it was pretty cold and windy outside.

We each ordered a drink and pancake. It was soooo hard to choose one. I wanted to try them all and ended up picking mine at the last moment after changing my mind a number of times.

I grabbed the Blue butterfly pea drink. It arrived with the colours separated which looked really cool! After a stir, it turned into a really pretty light blue. The drink was sweet but not overpowering and had a really nice flavour.

For my pancake, I selected the Brulee pancake. The pancake was soft and so fluffy. As I got to the last few bites I began to struggle a bit with how sweet it was. Despite that I still really enjoyed it!

Overall

This was such a great experience I wish I could have tried a bit of each style pancake!

On our way out, my partner spotted some small cakes in the cabinet so we also grabbed one to take home.

Would definitely recommend visiting especially if you are a fan of Japanese Pancakes!
