Summer Blue Nail Art | No tool nail design

Summer Blue Nail Art

As the weather warms up I felt like doing some blue nail art. It’s been a while since I’ve done a no-tool design and being a little restricted in the tools I have access to, I decided to create some cute Summer Blue Nail Art.

With 3 different shades of blue and some painters tape, this design is quick and easy.

Summer Blue Nail Art in 3 Steps

Select 3 shades of the same colour. Or mix up the colours if you prefer.

Apply a base colour to your nails as you would normally. Try to select the lightest shade as it may be hard to apply a light shade over a dark base. For my chosen colours it didn’t matter too much as they were pretty similar. I Kmart brand oxx pastel blue for the base. Let this dry for as long as possible.

Next cut some strips of painters tape. Apply it so that you can add the 2nd shade to your nails. This could go in any direction. I wasn’t sure which direction to go with, so for my first hand, I tried a range of options, selecting my favourite for hand 2. If you can paint away from the tape to prevent the polish from going under the tape. I recommend working on one hand at a time. Once you’ve finished applying the polish to the hand remove the tape and let it dry.

Repeat the steps but lower down to create a third line. For the 2nd and 3rd colours, I used OPI Gelato on my Mind and Dreams Need Clara-fication.

Overall

I actually did this design over two days which is a really good option if you are pressed for time.

You can also use nail art stickers if you have access to them. Otherwise, the painter’s tape does a pretty good job.
