Happy (almost) New Year. I’m posting this a little early so that you can have enough time to get your nails ready for NYE!! This year I decided to go with something simple but done with a twist. I hope you enjoy my New Years Nails 2022 design.

New Years Nails 2022 – The Base
It seems that I have a slight tradition of using ILNP Polishes for NYE designs. This isn’t really much of a surprise given that the glitter, metallic finishes lend themselves to being perfect for that party vibe.
I started out with 3 coats of UNT Peel-off Base coat, as I trashed my nails removing my last design (oops!!). For most people, 1-2 coats work well but for myself, I’ve found that I need 3 coats.
I then added one of my favourite ILNP shades Black Orchard. For most nails, I only needed 2 coats as this is quite an opaque polish. However, 2 of my nails did need 3 coats as I had made the layers a little too think.
If you are using a peel-off base coat, make sure you apply the colour as soon as you’re able to. I’ve left it for a while and ended up having to redo the peel off base coat as I had damaged it.
Nail Stamping with a Birthday themed plate
For the stamping, I used Maniology plate M116, a birthday-themed plate (see a short 15-second vid of the plate up close here).
So why the birthday plate? Well, I was hoping to use this plate in June but didn’t get the chance and I’ve been really wanting to use it. After seeing that it had a number of images that I could use for NYE I decided to go with it (PS…Get 10% off Maniology with my code THENAILCHRONICLE)
I used the numbers to add the year to one of my nails, followed by a variety of stars and champagne images for the remaining nails. Given that this is an NYE design, I selected the Konad silver polish, to add that little bit of extra sparkle.
Overall
I loved the simplicity of this design, it was fun to create and I got to use a brand new plate!!
