Five Guys Sydney, Australia | My first time trying Five Guys

Burger, shake and fries from five guys Sydney

Five Guys has been in Sydney for a few years now however it was quite a distance away from both work and home so until a few weeks ago I was yet to try it out. I have been curious about the burger chain so it would be great to finally check this off my list!

I wanted to try a little of everything, so I ordered a burger, fries and milkshake. Each burger comes pretty plain, but you can add as many toppings as you like to suit your taste. I added jalapenos, HP sauce and mushrooms. I really wanted the peanut butter milkshake unfortunately, they were out so I went with chocolate instead. For the fries, I just selected the smallest size I could. All together this came to $37 which is really pricy, especially for a fast food place. I knew that it would be expensive before I visited. I just hoped it was worth it.

The food came out pretty quickly despite the long line (they had only been open for a few weeks at this point, so there was still quite a lot of hype). The milkshake was very thick and really tasty but not worth the price. I have paid $10 for a milkshake before. However, that was made with premium ice cream. The burger was also tasty but again amazing. The same goes for the fires. I loved that the skin was kept on as I really enjoy the added flavour and texture.

Considering I could go to a local cafe and get a really good burger with chips and coffee or shake for about $25-$30 give or take. Paying $37 for food that was good but not amazing I felt a little ripped off.

Overall

So would I go back? Probably not. It’s definitely interesting to try once but no I wouldn’t go back. There are so many good burger places and cafes around Sydney that do way better burgers for cheaper and better quality.

For some great burgers Peanut Butter Bar – Leichhardt | Food Review is one option (note they are due to open in a new location in Aug 2022)
