Konad Silver Stamping Polish Review | Christmas Nail Art

This design started with the stamping polish which is a little different to how I would usually start. I wanted to create something Christmasy using Konad silver stamping polish, which I’ve had for a while but haven’t used a lot. After choosing the stamping polish the rest of the design fell into place from there.

Creating a contrasting base

So that the silver would be clearly visible I wanted to use a dark shade but no necessarily a black. I selected L’Oreal Paris – Grenat Irreverent, a very dark Maroon that in some lights looks a little black/off black. But generally, the red undertones are visible. The polish lasts the full week and is opaque in two coats. Its such a nice Autumn/Fall and Christmas shade.

Konad Silver Stamping Polish and Maniology

As mentioned in the into this design kicked off with the stamping polish. I’ve used a few Konad glitter style stamping polishes in the past and they can be quite hard to get a clean image. This silver stamping polish is no exception. My top tip is to hold the scraper on a 5-10 degree angle rather then 45 degrees like you would with most stamping polishes.

Using stamping plate Maniology M039, a Christmas themed plate I added a mix of small and large images to my nails (Use my code THENAILCHRONICLE for 10% off Maniology). Given that the large images were quite detailed I didn’t want to overcrowd the design and I wanted to add a bit of white space on my nails.

Even keeping the scraper on a tighter angle I still had a few images that struggled to pick up. I ended up just cleaning my plate and starting these again.

Overall the Konad Silver Stamping Polish is just ok. Compared to their more solid colours like the black stamping polish its a lot harder to use. I’m sure there are other much better brands for metallic/glitter polish.

Overall

Despite the challenges with the stamping I loved how this simple design turned out. The silver against the dark maroon polish looks beautiful.

Let me know if you have any favourite metallic/silver stamping polishes.
